After You Are Invited to Join

If you are invited to join SC AUXCOMM, you have 90 days to complete initial mandatory FEMA training, if you have not already done so:

  • IS-100b Introduction to the Incident Command System
  • IS-200b ISC for single resource and Initial Action Incidents
  • IS-700a National Incident Management System, an Introduction
  • IS-800b National Response Framework, an Introduction

These courses are available on-line and information about them is contained in the ARES/RACES tactical guide located on the website. All these online courses are free.

When you complete one of the courses, you will be given a download of a PDF Completion Certificate. You will then upload the electronic copy of the course completion certificate to the appropriate link as indicated on the SC AUXCOMM invitation email. Only one certificate per course is allowed and the upload must be in a PDF format which is provided by FEMA.  If the course was taken a while back and you do not have an electronic copy, you may scan their paper course certificate into a PDF file and upload it.  All scanned documents must be clearly legible . Please ensure proper orientation when you scan and upload the certificate.

After all the certificates for the required training are uploaded, the SC AUXCOMM system alerts the inviting official that the application is ready. The inviting official then reviews the data, and if everything is in order, activates the membership. All transactions on the SC AUXCOMM website are auditable and all training data is subject to second level reviews by authorized reviewing officials. The goal is to have a vetted resource database that South Carolina Emergency Officials trust for accuracy.

After all the prerequisites are complete, and your membership has been approved, you will be contacted by your Regional Coordinator.
